Non-specialists now have a simple and efficient way to make stablised platinum nanoparticles for molecular electronics and nanolithography thanks to efforts by researchers in Italy.Giuliano Longoni and colleagues at the University of Bologna have designed a new one-step synthesis for the [Pt_(38)(CO)_(44)]~(2-)dianion from the metal hexachloride salt and other commerically available starting materials.
