The world's demand for polymeric materials designed to meet specific requirements of new industrial applications is growing continuously.These materials may include either novel polymers or copolymers of programmed structure or specialty polymer blends and composites.The paper will present the overview of developments of Industrial Chemistry Research Institute (ICRI) in this area.Special attention will be given to:-polyacetal plastics produced via modern continuous solventless process from easy-to-handle starting materials (trioxane and dioxolane)-plycarbonates (obtained via interphase polycondensation)and their blends-polyoxyphenylene (from 2,6-xylenol)-modifiers for lastics (mould release agents,impact strength modifiers)-thermoplastic elastomers based on co-poly(ether-esters) applied as modifiers for PS plastics and as substantial components of novel filled compositions-PE/scrap vulcanised urbber blends used for irrigation pipes in agriculture-specialty shock-damping silicone elastomer used in railway car bumpers-specialty hybrid elastomers-silicone-urethanes of diminished phase segregation,combining the properties of silicones and polyurethanes
