PLASTIC furniture and furnishing complements are gaining an increasing share of the market, eroding that of furnishings made with traditional materials, and wood first of all, becoming one of the principal applications for synthetic resins.Regarding ecological impact, plastic furniture may represent an ideal choice to preserve trees, forests and ecosystems. On the other hand, one might object that synthesized materials present problems of disposal and degradability and that the long-term impact of plastic furnishings would be more serious than deforestation. However, it must be emphasized that eco-compatible plastics are now possible that minimize their environmental impact.
