BASF increases capacities for butanediol and PolyTHF

BASF announced it will increase its global capacities for producing 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and the derivative PolyTHF (polytetrame-thylene ether glycol, PTMEG) within the coming two years. According to the company, its annual BDO capacity will rise from 535,000 t to 650,000 t and its annual PolyTHF capacity from 250,000 t to 350,000 t. With respect to PolyTHF, BASF had already announced a capacity increase from 185,000 t to 250,000 t per year in August 2012.
