Iappreciate the efforts of Government when it tries to assist farmers. The current jobs fund to the tune of R600 million that has been set aside for agriculture support is a move in the right direction. The challenge is that when this kind of supportis packaged, the recipients -farmers in particular - are left out. Farmers are advised to access these funds as per the regulations and requirements stipulated. The product (R600 million) remains pie in the sky and access in one way or another leaves therecipients with less control. The minimum requirement to access the current agriculture jobs fund is R20 million, meaning a farmer must prove that he or she has got access to that cash. One does not have to have that cash in the bank, but must show in writing that there is a guarantee of such funds from a bank or benefactor. If you have that access, should the Jobs Fund Selection Committee find that your business is showing the creation of sustainable jobs, you will receive R20 million.
