Lower BOPP prices in the US in Q3, 2012

Prices of 20 micron transparent co-extruded BOPP film have declined by up to 13% in the US during Q3, 2012 to US$3.15 – US$3.25 / kg, after a period of price stability since the beginning of July. This is linked to falling resin costs and weaker demand. Some inventories were also left over from Q2, with demand typically being weaker in Q3. PP resin companies would like to raise their prices especially in view of higher oil costs, but demand from the film industry remains soft.
