Hershey forecasts two-thirds growth for China's chocolate market by 2019

ccording to recent news releases, a senior officer at US confectionery group Hershey has forecast that chocolate sales in China will grow by two thirds to reach over US$4 billion by 2019 from US$2.7 billion in 2014, driven by China's increasing urban population. Hershey's own sales in China, which in 2014 accounted for around 4.5% of the company's US$7.4 billion total revenue, are expected to increase by 35% during 2015 to US$450 million. This is primarily due to the US chocolate maker's acquisition of a majority stake in Shanghai Golden Monkey Food Co. in December 2013.
