摘要

Dendritic polymers as a new class of polymeric materials are highly branched macromolecules capable of conferring smart performance in coatings. Synthetic methodologies, characterisation, structure-property relationships and applications are discussed. Benefits, such as low viscosity and excellent crosslinking properties, are quoted, but the main drawback still remains the multistep synthesis procedure.
