Plastics waste guidelines for local authorities

A new set of guidelines have been issued for local and regional authorities covering the management of plastics waste.The guidelines have been published by the Association of Cities & Regions for Recycling (ACRR),whose membership comprises more than 70 European cities and regions,and the plastics industry associations APME,ECVM,EuPC and EuPR.According to ACRR,waste plastics have often been seen as difficult to recycle for technical or economic reasons and,as a result,they have often been among those waste fractions to be neglected when local authorities have been planning their recycling campaigns.
