The US plastics industry continues to benefit from cheap shale gas. Although it is still wrestling with problems resulting from low feedstock costs and despite the fact that the processing segment is not keeping up with higher demand for plastics products, the gradual expansion of production plants that exploit the cost advantage of shale gas is creating promising prospects - also for the processing side of the industry.
