In July, western European buyers of standard thermoplastics had to accept feedstock-driven hikes. With supplies tightening, prices - which soared early, then calmed - seemed secondary. Polyolefin producers targeted and partly realised significant increases, after ethylene (C2) added EUR 80/t and propylene (C3) EUR 85/t. While EUR 150/t was over the top, many buyers still paid more than the monomer rise.
