European packaging businesses sold to AEA Investors/Annual turnover of USD 838m

Packaging producer Pactiv (Lake Forest,Illinois/USA; www.pactiv.com),has agreed to sell "substantially all" of its North American and European protective and flexible packaging activities to an affiliate of private investment firm AEA Investors (www.aeainvestors.com) for USD 530m,including debt.The businesses involved,with USD 838m in annual sales and operating income of USD 60m,produce air cushioning,air padded foam,flexible packaging and hospital supplies.The transaction is due to close during the third quarter.
