Following a sharp downturn in 2009, the Swiss plastics sector saw its economic curve point upward again in 2010, according to the industry grouping Swiss Plastics Association (KVS, Aarau / Switzerland; www.kvs.ch).Outlining the economic performance in Aarau, association president Doris Fiala said growth rates returned to about 10 %year-on-year, with industrywide sales at CHF 15.8 bn (EUR 14.9 bn) and nearly touching the 2008 record of CHF 15.9 bn.After losing more than 50 companies in 2009, the Swiss plastics sector added 14 firms in 2010 and now counts 854, said Fiala. The new players are engaged in polymer production, trading and processing, along with machinery and equipment manufacture.
