Indorama joint venture to build petchem complex in Port Harbour/ New methanol and LDPE capacities

Known for its oil wealth and the political problems that have plagued the Niger Delta for years, the Nigerian government under president Goodluck Jonathan has given the green light for several deals with global petrochemical players to develop the African country's industrial sector. Several news media have picked up on new plans for a USD 1.8 bn complex, including fertiliser and methanol plants, to be built in Port Harbour. The hub is to be built by Eleme Petrochemical Company, a joint venture between Indorama (Bangkok / Thailand; www.indoramapolymers.com), the Nigerian government, the rivers state government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (Garki / Nigeria; www.nnpc-nigeria.com).
