The German plastics industry is rebounding from the 2008-2009 recession more quickly than anyone hoped, a survey by PIE's sister publication Kunststoff Information (KI, Bad Homburg / Germany; www.kiweb.de) indicates. An impressive 80% of the 255 readers participating in the semi-annual "KI Dialogue" said business was better than expected in the first half of 2010. Polymer producers were the most upbeat, with over 90% reporting better results compared with the 2009 first half. But even 77% of converters - with 140 participants the largest contingent - reported improvement. In January 2010, some 46% of those taking part in the beginning-of-the-year survey had forecast improvement.
