Final Rule Defines Gas Gathering Lines,Sets Safety Rules for Pipeline Operators

The Transportation Department defines when pipelines are onshore gathering lines and establishes safety standards for those lines in a final rule published March 15 (71 Fed.Reg.13,289).Under the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration final rule,pipeline operators will use an industry consensus definition to determine whether a pipeline is an onshore gathering line.
