Modular 'Adaptable Automation' Makes IML More Economical

Five years ago, in-mold labeling was just gaining traction among North American injection molders as a one-step approach to decorating without secondary operations. Since then, IML has been adopted by only a handful of North American molders, though they say their business has been brisk. Penetra- tion of IML into injection molded food packaging is still no more than 5% here, though in Europe injection molding IML accounts for an estimated 85% to 95% of food packaging applications.
