POSCO net profit in Q1 2009 down 68.5% on-year

South Korean steelmaker POSCO has announced its netprofit for Q1 2009 stood at Won 325 billion ($241million), down 68.5% compared to the same period lastyear as it noted that its fiscal position was better than itscounterparts in the United States and Europe. The decline in net profit was "due to raw materialsprice increase and unfavorable exchange rates."
