Mexico's CFE plans three-year coal supply tender

Mexico's Federal Electricity Comission (CFE) is planning a tender to supply coal over three years -- 2009 through 2011-- for its 2,100-MW Petacalco plant on the Pacific Coast, a CFE source said Thursday. The tender will mark the first occasion on which the CFE has invited bids for multi-year supplies. “This represents a change of strategy for the CFE. It's in response to what are very difficult market conditions,” the source said.
