Richards Bay spot edges up, January cargo trades at $101.90/mt

South African FOB thermal coal prices edged up for a second successive day November 29, as the Atlantic market continued to stabilise after a recent spell of protracted softening. A January-loading 75,000 mt Richards Bay cargo traded at $101.90/mt offscreen, with a Northwest European utilitytrader heard buying from a Switzerland-based trader. The level of the deal was the highest for a South African 90-day spot trade for over a week with spot Richards Bay tonnage trading below $100/mt for the first time in 13 months November 24.
