Spot European physical coal prices ascended to a near 12-month high Tuesday, with a March-delivery generic origin 50,000 mt cargo going through at $84.50/mt. The level of the trade, which involved two northwest European utility-traders, was a full $2.75/mt higher than the last transaction of the March contract on December 23.
