China Shenhua Group has acquired the Xinjietaigemiao coal field in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia for development purposes, according to a release by Shenhua Group listed subsidiary, China Shenhua Energy Co, March 5. Although the cost of the acquisition is unknown, the release revealed that the coal field was allocated to Shenhua by the National Development and Reform Commission. The Xinjietaigemiao coal field is estimated to have 13 billion mt of thermal coal reserves and can be developed with a design mining capacity of 100 million mt/year, according to the release.
