Negotiations for the Northwest European polyethylene terephthalate January contract price evolved to larger increases Wednesday as producers looked to push through a minimum price hike of Eur50/mt. Producers had initially said they would seek increases of between Eur30-50/mt following news of the January NWE paraxylene CP settlement. The January NWE paraxylene CP had settled at Eur800/mt ($1,127/mt) FD NWE, representing a Eur60/mt increase in terms of PET. However, following an initial NWE monoethylene glycol January CP settlement last Thursday at Eur785/mt ($1,106/mt) FD NWE, producers said they would seek a range of Eur60-70/mt price hikes.
