PX: Prices were assessed at $892/mt FOB Korea and $907/mt CFR Taiwan/China Friday, down $8/mt from Thursday and down $32/mt from the previous week. The market started on a firm note this week, with prices hitting $939/mt FOB Korea Tuesday, the highest level since May 20. Buying was prompted on Tuesday amid strong crude oil futures and news that Japan’s JX Nippon Oil was canceling its monthly tender to sell 20,000 mt of PX for August. But the market quickly made a downturn Wednesday, as NYMEX crude oil futures started sliding in line with falling stock markets and US dollar moves.
