Asian linear low density polyethylene prices sunk $50/mt on softer demand due to the impending Lunar New Year and heavy inventories. Although major producers had not adjusted their offers from the previous week on cost pressures, traders with high stocks and concerned about a further price crash after the holidays, had begun profit-taking on a massive scale. Traders were heard to be offering prompt or ex-warehouse cargoes at $1,350-1,375/mt CFR China, while trades were concluded at $1,330/mt CFR.
