EDC: Asian ethylene dichloride prices dipped $30/mt on the week Thursday, as buyers’ sentiment was dragged down by expectations of additional supplies over the coming months. South Korea’s Hanwha Chemical plans to start up its new 87,000 mt/year EDC plant at Yeosu on Monday (January 18). Industry sources said EDC supplies from the new plant will be immediately available in the market. “I think the startup will be successful as the startup process of EDC plants is very simple,” a market source said. In addition, large volumes of US deep-sea cargoes are expected to arrive in Asia in February.
