Australian dollar dip to benefit Australian coal exporters: analysts

A steep decline in the value of the Australian dollar compared with other major currencies such as the US dollar and Japanese yen is expected to benefit Australian coal exporters, said resource analysts. The Australian currency unit has lost 12% of its value against the US dollar, the currency in which coal is sold on international markets, in the month of May to-date by dropping to $1.20 to A$1 on May 24 from $1.07 to A$1 on May 1.
