Platts launches additional daily spot CFR India thermal coal assessments

Platts expanded its daily spot thermal coal market coverage basis CFR India by launching four additional assessments on Friday, October 1, 2010. The specifications for assessed thermal coal grade are as follows: a stan- dard calorific value of 5,000 kcal/kg and 5,900 kcal/kg gross as received (GAR) basis, with a maximum sulfur content of 1.4% and maximum ash of 16% and 15% respectively and a total moisture range of 22-25% and 15-17% respectively on a received basis for delivery to the east and west coast of India within the next 90-day period from date of assessment. These specifications reflect typical shipments of Indonesian thermal coal for delivery to the east and west coast of India. Thermal coal deliveries from other destinations meeting those specifications will also be taken into account for the assessment.
