Atlantic physical softens, CIF ARA cargoes trade above paper levels

Atlantic physical thermal coal spot prices retraced November 23 as implied freight margins between European- delivered and South African FOB coal widened for a second successive session. On the globalCOAL trading platform, a February DES AR 50,000 mt multi-origin cargo with exchange of physical for futures terms traded at $107.25/mt, down $0.50/mt on over- night levels but over a dollar higher than equivalent API2 paper prices at the time of the transaction, traders said.
