Concerns over large amounts of Asian butadiene on its way to the US lingered in the market this week. But the focus has shifted from the specifications of the material, to the ability of the system to handle such a large influx at once. “I think the specifications will be OK, and the material will be able to be used in the US,” one butadiene buyer said this week. There had been concern that the material being shipped from Asia — about 30,000 tons — would not be able to be put into the pipeline because it was below spec. And while some of the material might not make it into the pipeline in the US, it was looking more likely that much of the material would be able to be delivered.
