The recent surge in US acrylonitrile prices continued this week as tight supplies and increased demand sent buyers scrambling for product. The US price was assessed at $1975/mt FOB USG, up $65 from last week. The delivere price climbed 2.5 cents to 89.5 cents/lb. Sources said demand for ABS and fiber, coupled with gains in Asia an Europe, were the primary price drivers. In Asia, the ACN price this week climbed $76 to $2052/mt. In Europe, the spot price jumped $100/mt to $1,995/mt. Propylene prices continued to climb this week, with refinery grade assessed near 55 cents/lb, up 2 cents from last week.
