European spot values softened Wednesday to Eur1,230- 1,235/mt ($1,571/mt) FD NWE, as some offers retreated in a balanced market, sources said. Pronounced shorts did not materialize, with previous bullishness appearing overdone, sources claimed. A producer and several traders reported doing spot business at Eur1,250/mt FD NWE while a converter reported purchasing 100mt of prime European product at Eur1,210/mt FD NWE. “We have tried selling above Eur1,250/mt FD NWE but it is not working,” a producer said. Producers said that a more pragmatic approach now was to allocate spot volume into exports.
