Low density polyethylene was assessed $20-30/mt higher on the week due to a lack of supply even as demand from agricultural packaging weakened. Sellers indicated interests at $1,450-1,470/mt CFR China, but reached no consensus with buyers. Chinese domestic prices rose Yuan 300-400/mt to Yuan 12,700-12,800/mt, equating to $1,492-1,504/mt on an import parity basis. Accordingly, local major producer Sinopec Corp hiked its ex-factory prices Yuan 300/mt to Yuan 12,700/mt in eastern China on Tuesday to reflect gains in the retail market.
