Fractional melts continued to command a premium over other grades, trading sources said. Liquidity for traders and distributors failed to improve, as converters only covered prompt shorts, requesting conservative volumes only. Tight material availability curbed volume speculation, sources said. Thin industry stocks sustained healthy buying for core contractual volumes, producers said. “We hear traders and distributors complain about thin business but they still do not risk bringing any product into Europe due to the high dollar,” a producer said. Producers continued to report good order intake for June volume and remained optimistic for July.
