London — At least one tire retailer in the UK has started applying environmental labeling on tires before the official November start date for the requirement, which market sources said could lead to increased use of solution styrene-butadiene rubber to produce them. Kwik Fit, a UK tire and exhaust retailer, confirmed Wednesday that it had been implementing a labeling system for two months. "We have introduced the system ahead of the start of the [EU] regulation," a Kwik Fit company spokesman said. "Staff were trained before July 1 and all materials to implement the system were made available for this. Advice literature has been made available for customers in center," a Kwik Fit spokeswoman said separately.
