On the production side, Braskem’s biggest cracker inCamacari, Bahia, was working this week at 95% capacityand Braskem was working towards eliminating alltechnical problems and returning to normal rates, said asource from the company. The emergency shutdown inthe two crackers in the area started with a city blackouton February 4. The company managed to restore thesmallest cracker on April but were still having problemswith the biggest one, responsible for 90,000/mt ofbutadiene yearly. Because of the cracker’s halt, thecompany didn’t have any butadiene to export duringFebruary and April. Braskem was able to send a smallshipment (2,000/mt) to the US in May and shouldincrease the export amount this month.
