Asian ethylene ended the week higher as sellers refused to budge, prompting buyers to move up their price expectations. Ethylene was assessed at $1,401/mt CFR Northeast Asia Friday at 4:30 pm Singapore time, up $38.50/mt day on day, and up $40/mt from Thursday last week. In Southeast Asia, it was up $20/mt day on day to $1,421/mt CFR Friday and up $20/mt from Thursday last week. Platts moved forward its assessment timing by four hours to 12:30 pm last Thursday and did not publish assessments on Friday last week due to a public holiday in Singapore. While several market participants noted that trading activity was thin this week, buyers have moved their buying ideas up, with indications heard around $1,400/mt CFR Northeast Asia.
