Asian low density polyethylene prices were assessed $30/mt lower week on week Wednesday at $1,540/mt CFR Far East Asia and $1,560/mt CFR Southeast Asia on weaker demand and softer raw material costs. Feedstock ethylene prices slumped $15/mt week on week to $1,156/mt CFR NEA and slid $10/mt over the same period to $1,161/mt CFR SEA. In China, domestic offers in the retail market were largely unchanged from a week ago at Yuan 12,800-13,000/mt exwarehouse, equating to $1,605-1,630/mt on an import parity basis. But spot demand in China was lukewarm, attributed to a tightened credit policy, which curbed speculative buying.
