Spot export LLDPE prices rose $77/mt as producers’ stoppedoffering to Asia concentrated their efforts on South America.Over the last few weeks there were quiet deals heard for exportinto China that effectively tightened inventories and allowedproducers to raise offers. It remained to be seen if SouthAmerican buyers jump on the new higher offers out of the US.Also, there had been pressure on the South American marketfrom re-export cargoes out of Asia. However, with China havingbought up excess material in Asia, Asian PE offers to SouthAmerica were expected to decrease in volume and increase inprice. This was expected to allow US producers to raise offersinto South America. Westlake was heard to have sold out of itsJuly export allocation at 62 cents/lb FAS Houston and traderssaid offers had risen to 63 cents/lb FAS and above.
