EDC: Some activity was reported in the European ethylene dichloride market, with a source saying he had done September business at $445-455/mt FOB NWE, but the information was unconfirmed with the market. EDC was assessed flat this week on the back of lessening pressure upstream, with C2 values remaining "relatively stable" despite movements in naphtha. The European ethylene spot market was assessed at Eur1,000/mt FD NWE at close on Thursday; a Eur5/mt decrease week-on-week. Ethylene sources said that cracker running rates had been adjusted to maintain the existing supply/demand balance. VCM: Activity in the vinyl chloride monomer market was reported thin this week with sources saying no trades had occurred.
