Low density polyethylene surged this week on the back of gainsin linear low density polyethylene. The Far East Asia benchmarkwas up $50/mt or 3.4% week on week to $1,510/mt CFRWednesday; while in Southeast Asia, it was up $55/mt at$1,525/mt CFR. While demand was still relatively weak, sellersraised prices in line with sharp increases in LLDPE. LLDPE hasgained $90/mt since the end of June to close at $1,300/mt CFRFar East Asia Wednesday. By comparison, LDPE was up just$65/mt over the same period. A Malaysian producer raised hisoffers to $1,550/mt CFR China and $1,600/mt CFR SoutheastAsia. The latter does not attract import taxes under the ASEANFTA.
