Prices dropped in the export market after getting brief support earlier in the week. Westlake sold LLDPE-butene at 66 cents/lb FAS Houston and then raised the price to 67 cents/lb FAS Houston. Traders said 66 cents/lb ($1,455/mt) might work to Latin America for small quantities but that demand cooled mid-week once buyers saw lower offers available from Asia. China demand weakened and deals were talked at $1,320/mt CFR which meant FOB offers were at least at that level, though one trader said Asian producers typically seek a premium for their deepsea offers to Latin America compared to their China business. One trader said there was ex-Asia LLDPE available under $1,400/mt CFR South America but others said they had not seen prices that low yet.
