Domestic contracts in June were already announced down 2 cents/lb to 64 cents/lb delivered for mid-sized buyers, but with the PX CP down 6 cents/lb and MEG down 5 cents/lb; there was pressure on contracts to further decrease. The 6 cents/lb drop in PX would take about 3.5 cents/lb off the cost of PET and the 5 cents/lb cut in MEG would take another 1.7 cents/lb from the cost of making bottle resin. Whether producers would decrease PET in line with raw materials was the discussion among participants this week.
