US spot ethylene was flat week on week as an unplannedoutage and resulting force majeure declaration lentsupport to prices and halted a monthlong slide. Ethyleneclosed the week at 48-48.50 cents/lb on a 3- to 30-daybasis that accounted for a slight backwardation in themarket. The assessment reflected an increase of .75cents/lb on the day and a 1.50-cent/lb hike sinceWilliams shut its Geismar, Louisiana, cracker for repairson Thursday and placed customers on 50% allocation.
