OPEC production plunged by 1.7-mil b/d in December to average 25.21-mil b/d as the strike in Venezuela paralyzed the country's production and exports, a Platts survey of OPEC and oil industry officials showed Jan 9. The strike, which began Dec 2 and has continued into January, slashed Venezuela's crude production by almost two-thirds or 1.9-mil b/d, from 2.9-mil b/d in November to around 1-mil b/d in December.
