Brazil faces gas price hike on Bolivian tax law change

Brazilian oil-giant Petrobras,the largest investor in Bolivia's natural gas industry,faces several dilemmas due to Bolivia's new hydrocarbons law,say industry sources and analysts.Enacted last week,the law sets a new 32% tax on gas production.For one,the rising costs of extracting gas in Bolivia will lead Petrobras to"re-analyze"about US850-mil in pending Bolivian investment,including a boost in E&P and a proposed gas-fired petrochemicals plant,Petrobras International director Nestor Cervero said.
