For all the benefits the shale natural gas boom provides to end-users and industries that support drilling, it has had a dark side for the coal industry and for some gas companies that did not diversify into liquids, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said in a report Tuesday. Among the biggest winners of the shale revolution is the oil and gas exploration-and-production industry itself, David Wood, author of the report and S&P managing director, said in an interview.
