The latest information released by Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii can be quite a shock for those who follow climate change (See graph for 1955-2010).The data as on April,2010 indicates that the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere has reached 392.39 ppmv, up by 2.93 ppmv over the last year ending April 2009,which was higher than the previous year of April 2008 of 2.28 ppmv. When other green house gases (GHGs) are added at 23% of these figures, it would come to a staggering figure of 3.6 ppmv, a world record as of now, for 2010 and 2.8 ppmv for 2009 and let us not forget that the cumulative total total in the atmosphere of 392.39 ppmv of CO2,when added with other GHGs at 23%(as per A R 4 report of IPCC) would come to 483.28 ppmv of CO2 equivalent.
