On dual representation in classical electrodynamics

摘要

A discussion is given of the use of the dual representa-tion in solving multipole radiation and electromagnetic wave diffraction problems in classical electrodynamics. In the meth-od discussed, actual electric field sources are replaced by`magnetic' ones. It is shown that despite the absence of Dirac magnetic monopoles, this formalism allows a physical interpre-tation of some frequently used methods.
