First report of lance nematode (Hoplolaimus magnistylus) on corn, soybean, and cotton in Tennessee.

The lance nematode (H. magnistylus) was found for the first time in Tennessee in a cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) field in Fayette County, Tennessee, USA, in May 2011. In June of the same year, the species was also found in soil samples collected from a maize (Zea mays) field and a soyabean (Glycine max) field in Weakley County. Population densities were between 30 and 50 individuals/100 cm3 of soil in areas with noticeable stunting. Helicotylenchus sp. and Pratylenchus sp. were also present at less than 10 individuals/100 cm3 of soil.Digital Object Identifier http://dx.doi.org/10.1094/PDIS-09-12-0881-PDN
